Where to Go for Care

A teenage girl sits in a modern, warmly lit room while a female healthcare professional offers comfort and support. The setting appears to be a counseling or medical office with large windows and soft furnishings. The mood is caring and empathetic, with natural light and neutral tones creating a calm atmosphere. No visible text or numbers are present in the image.

Primary care providers

A Primary Care Provider (PCP) sees patients for common medical problems, performs routine exams, and helps prevent or treat illnesses. Members can trust a PCP to know health histories and help find specialty care when needed. If an in-network PCP allows virtual (video) visits, members will pay $0 before deductible on many plans.

Specialty care

Plans include access to facilities and providers for many types of treatment.

Immediate care

  • Intermountain InstaCare — These Utah clinics are open late and cost less than the ER.
  • Urgent Care — Members should visit an in-network facility for urgent care needs.
For emergencies, members should call 911 or go to the nearest hospital.
  • Hospitals
    • Utah — All Intermountain Health facilities are in-network. We also partner with other high-quality facilities and providers.
    • Colorado — Access to AdventHealth, Intermountain Health, Monument Health, and UCHealth hospitals means getting high-quality hospital care at the lowest possible cost.
    • Idaho — We partnered with local providers and facilities to offer statewide access to hospital care.
    • Nevada — We've partnered with local Nevada providers and facilities to offer broad access to a variety of care and services.

Intermountain Health Virtual Care Services
Use virtual care services for face-to-face video visits for urgent care, primary care,
behavioral health, and specialties like physical therapy and lactation support.
Visit intermountainhealthcare.org/services/virtual-care for more information.

UCHealth Virtual Care Services (CO)

In Colorado, members can use Virtual Urgent Care for health symptoms like the flu, pink eye, minor injuries, and more, or see a primary care provider or specialist from the comfort of your home through a video appointment. Visit uchealth.org/services/video-appointment or uchealth.org/services/virtual-urgent-care/ for more information.

This service is available at low or no out-of-pocket cost. Members should check their ID card
or member materials for coverage information. Some plans are subject to deductible first.

Out-of-area care

In-network benefits apply for urgent and emergency care, regardless of the location.

  • For emergency situations, members should go to the nearest emergency room for
immediate care.

Members should use the UnitedHealthcare Options PPO network for urgent care and emergencies when traveling outside the plan service area.

  • Members present their ID card when visiting UnitedHealthcare Options PPO network providers or facilities. The logos on the back of the ID card provide access to their network.

Out-of-Area Employees

To ensure employees have access to the same great customer service and benefits, we provide in-network access across the United States for those on certain Select Health plans.  Select Health utilizes the UnitedHealthcare Options PPO network for those accessing care outside of Utah, Idaho, Nevada, and Colorado.

Note: Select Health cannot enroll subscribers with a primary residence in Hawaii and US territories such as American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands due to specific state and local laws.

Members can call Member Services at 800-538-5038 or visit selecthealth.org/find-care#uhc to find a provider or facility.

Outside the country

If members are traveling outside of the United States and require urgent or emergency care, they can visit the nearest doctor or hospital. They may need to pay for treatment at the time of service. If so, they should keep their receipt and submit it with the Claim Reimbursement Form found at selecthealth.org/forms.

Preventive Care

Most plan options cover preventive at 100% — that means no copay, coinsurance, or deductible. For services to be covered as preventive, claims must be billed with preventive codes. If a provider finds a condition that needs further testing or treatment, regular copays, coinsurance, or deductibles will apply.
Preventive care visits can help members stay healthy, reduce the risk of developing chronic conditions, and improve overall quality of life.
